I’m sure some of the people announcing will be affected too. Sounds like the payout is okay

You think £6 is good, I walked away with £112k a few years ago.

£30k tax free, the remainder into pension fund AVC to stay tax free.

Over 55 and can draw 25% of AVC tax free. Yes TR redundancy is generous.

I did 11 years at Reuters and then TR.

For some redundancy is ok and almost part of plan.

For others a push with some cash to a better job elsewhere.

This was my second redundancy , prior I was made redundant in 2000 after 14 years and walked with £45k then.

Many made redundant by TR will reappear as contractors after 12 months , seen it many times.

Try and stay positive folks. I know many made redundant and for a majority it works out better in the end for them.

Compared to most companies the TR severance is super generous. It’s tax free up to a certain amount. Money for free and I’ll go get another job. I’ll get £6k, Not a bad given it’s tax free and I know I’ll get another job.

I’m not moaning - sorry I know this is a moaning blog. Sorry to add some positivity.

I’m not gonna let a bit of news destroy my positive vibes. Smile and be happy, and if you think you’re really hard done by - read the stories or the poor souls in Indonesia who lost EVERYTHING during the Tsunami last week. They lost family, all their belongings, their homes. I’m just losing my job - big deal.

Be grateful for what you have - I am gonna be £6k richer. Happy days people.

Basically the staff forced some sort of weasel words that the site could close out of John o Brien. The local press then got an official announcement saying it deffo was closing! They weren’t supposed to announce it today.

I was in the Philippines when the head guy showed up and told them they were our future while me and 2 other team members were there from U.S. training. 2 of 3 of us are gone. Voluntary but still gone.

as an ex-AVOX/TR employee (11 years) - I'm not surprised by this news, when there they were taken over several times always stating there shouldn't be any Job cuts (anyone remember when they let half the staff go then brought pizza's for the lucky one's left as if that made things better?).

I'm glad I got out before they were taken over by yet another firm who's only interest is the bottom $.

Done in the name of Refinitiv, Wrexham to be closed the communication today was a shambles, pretty much like all the other communications. Howard B tried to cover his butt stating he had promised jobs were safe in January, was it not July he stood up and promised the site India was a temp measure? They have given no comfort keep us all on until after the end of the year so it doesnt look bad in the local press come Xmas.

We can feel comforted though that all of those delivering the message today felt for us, after all they are incompetent but are keeping their jobs. Good luck to all left in this new company, may you sleep with one eye open it is only a question of time before you are next on their list and after July, good luck on the redundancy package. My advice, jump before they screw you over

Do they not have to follow the same consultation rules as in the rest of the UK or something? Wondering why they were able to announce this today but most other employees in the UK can't be told until next week.

Feel sad for all those employees in Wrexham, hope you all find new jobs soon.

All liars. They couldn't respond properly to any questions fired at them earlier
