Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

REDUCTION OF STAFF EMAIL SENT OUT

Late Friday evening, the IT department submitted emails to staff members in enrollment and academics that is/will be affected by this reduction. You would have received a notice of a meeting on Monday morning. The email reads:

“Many organizations are facing challenges in mainting financial prosperity with the current economic times. And one of the most common ways to reduce costs during said challenging times is for your organization to cut payroll expenses. This can be done through layoffs, not allowing overtime, and in some cases, by doing a massive salary reduction. Thus the need for a reduction in force.”

Meeting attached for Monday 11/12/18 at 10:45am Arizona time at location TBD

I got laid off in March. It was a great 12 year run. Things kept getting worse last 4 years. No regrets. I no longer can supply any inside information. I hope I helped get the logical truth out. Good luck to all.

As she mentioned, historically there are lay-offs around the holidays (end of calendar year). Since they just had a lay-off a couple weeks ago, employees may be okay until next quarter.

Aligns with pay period? That’s every other week anyways - what does it have to do with the time of year??

I think layoffs are coming but not this way. Rationale: UoPX historically cans people, by surprise, around Thanksgiving and before Xmas as it aligns with a pay period.

UOP does not send out such announcements in advance. They reserve a degree of surprise when setting up these short meetings, even though the news spread fast once these meetings are setup.

No. He made it up. No one would send out a meeting invite like that.67
