A buyout was recently negotiated with the new 2 year contract in CT. The people that should leave won't as the popular saying is, "where else can I get paid this kind of money to sit around and do nothing" Our Union promotes and protects incompetence. When they waived the requirements for most technical positions a few years ago to put all their friends into higher paying jobs for which they couldn't qualify on their own since they had neither the education, training and couldn't pass the test to get into those positions prior for their entire career. The result is we started bleeding customers from them being taken out of service, not being able to be put in initial service and tons of overtime was paid following those newly "qualified" people around and fixing their mistakes. Yet Frontier is a proud company and can't admit it made a major mistake and things are only getting worse. These people sit around and still mostly do nothing, then go home and leave the mess for who is left. Ever wonder why tickets get dispatched at 3 PM and not 8 AM when it first came in? Well now you have your answer. And even on the management side, the promoted people into positions that had no clue of what they were doing in the that department and still have so much to learn we leave customers out of service all the time. It was a complete fiasco and Frontier allowed it to happen. The Union told Human Resources that people were qualified for jobs of which they weren't and are still not today and HR in their infinite wisdom said OK without really checking it out. So they are as much to blame as everyone else. And then instead of doing a clean sweep and getting rid of management middle level and above they retained people that should have been walked out the door. I have never seen such a self-created mess organized by both the Union and not so bright people running HR, that deliberately put the customer last, the future if the company in jeopardy only to line the pockets of people who have no clue what they doing. And without a formal training program it is only a matter of time before Frontier file for Chapter 11 although the all the senior people could care less since they already have their time and could leave anytime. It's all us junior people who will be left trying to save a sinking ship without any buckets to bail water.
The poster below who said california tech 1s need a RIF is full of it. The left over equipment maintainers from the old gte days need the buyout. Tech 1s cover everything from pots to fios, so getting rid of them makes no sense. You must be an outside tech 2 aka shade tree monkey. Mad because tech 1 is the job to have, and you dont have it. Loser.

CT will most likely be on stike in 2 to 3 weeks they ruined a great thing and one thing i know at least my customers. They stay with frontier cause of the technicans they are hard works most of them we work in blizzards rain 100 degrees it does not matter no overtime with atat we were mandatory 6 days 15 hrs of ot just to go home we have not had over time in 3 yrs no more work on Sundays its a shame what frontier has done to CT AND HOW MANY FAMILYS ARE GOING TO BE HURTING IN THE NEXT MONTH HEARD 700 TO BE LAYED OFF
I'm a CT tech we had 3 buy out offers already we have people 36 38 45 yrs still here then you have 20 30 yr old's with family's starting there life's but because they only offer it to techs and cable offer a buy out been with atat and frontier 8 yrs of service out contract is Oct 2019 strike time coming soon
Give us a buyout in Minnesota. Management, you have run the company to a point where it is only worth $1 a share. Your lack of management is what has made this company go bankrupt. Then you have the nerve to blame it on the employees and cut the call center sales employees commissions by 40 percent and raise your own pay. You are truly pathetic.
We should be thanking the execs for a job. Don't forget you bought us us techs we received the jd power award for customer service long before you showed up frontier we have been listening to customes everyday complain since you showed up. I feel like a psychologist. We been keeping your a– out of the fire since you bought us. You have never fixed what we passed on to our higher ups. It's a conspiracy to get rid of high paid union workers who are payed for there experiance and loyalty.
As a craft employee of FTR, this company has shown it's ineptitude in dealing with customer service and preventive maintenance. We are losing customers based on missed commitments, repeat trouble, and a deteriorated outside plant. The systems in place make first contact and eventual service a nightmare for the customer. Assignment errors and bad people skills have plagued Frontier from the beginning. If these important issues continue to be ignored, the churn rate will erode our customer base to bankruptcy. Mismanagement of repair and installs have the outside craft furious. We have the answers to resolve the churn but nobody to contact. Suits cannot fix this implosion. Raising rates do not address the inefficiency of current guidelines and rules. The churn will not stop until programs, policies, and even typical day to day working rules are changed. A bottom up fix is required now. Quality service is only achieved by efficient dispatch, assignment, and trouble shooting assistance to the tech in the field. By 2021, if the direction of these stuff shirt id–ts is not changed....RIP FTR!
Myself and the other execs at Frontier are the only reason this company is still around. All you employees should be thanking us.
Our cynergies, rebranding, and reorganizational efforts serve to fast track the industry driven practices on the immediate fiscal outlook while shifting the paradigm to leverage the best practice on our core values as a company.
Now, going forward we really need to get the ball rolling and drill down on thinking outside the box to set benchmarks toward results driven customer centric actions plans.
I’m not going to say what exactly that is, but we need to be on the same page while everyone is on this trajectory.
What does all of this mean? I have no clue, I just put all of the annoying corporate jargon I could together to try to form a sentence. But if we follow this plan, we might squeeze another year of bonuses out of this company for the executives. Which is what we’re all aiming for anyway, right?
Under my leadership we have successfully changed our stock price from one amount per share, to a figure WAY different than when I took over. That’s what companies try to do all the time. I urge you to stay positive when thinking of this huge change in price that I’m not describing in its entirety. We also have many, many less customers to call and bug you throughout the day, and in the end isn’t that what we all want? A stress free way to steal money instead of earning it “the old fashioned way” we’re on the new Frontier, that’s how things are done now.
Let the “other guys” worry about upgrading services, keeping customers happy, and all that “corporate buzzword” stuff. I urge you to join me. Where money is free and consequences are negligible, if even existent.
Legacy Union Workers in Ct get $30 an hour and most take 15 calls in a day and tell those that do take a lot of calls to slow down! Add in benfits and there is simply no way that can work.
If you’re waiting for a buyout you’re a fool. Frontier is broke and has no money they’re about to go bankrupt. Take your pension rolled it over into an IRA and run
Fix management. Bring back the incentive for 20 year craft workers to want to take management positions. We lost all managers with field experience when we were still verizon. Why would any good craft worker today go management, just to lose healthcare, pension, and take a pay cut ?
there giving buyouts to wrong groups, cot in California are doing nothing cause no work coming down pipeline they need to offer a incentive to get these players out. most are ready for retirement , just waiting around for something
Buyout coming to California tech 1 and Co techs. Company is struggling to stay afloat. There is no work. They putting bonded DSL in central offices with FIOS and leaving other areas with no FIOS with plain DSL. That's management for you. By the way they need to offer buyots to all tech 1 and cot, don't be afraid to lose senior techs with knowledge cause they don't know s... anyways.
The biggest problem has always been their systems which has caused a majority of their billing issues and also network issues. Not to mention the technology is outdated and they can’t hire good help due to paying too little which is barely minimum wage with promises of higher commissions which leads to dishonesty or they use overpaid union workers that only protect dead weight. The company and Union are both corrupt and do not care about the people or the customers. I unfortunately seen both sides do horrible things just to make their agenda work. I will be the first to say I worked for them and was let go BUT I would never want to see the company or the employees go under. Unfortunately that is the direction it has been heading for.

Until they hire telecom people to run this company instead of sales people, ( yes the executives in charge of hiring choose to fire the managers that knew their jobs and hired sales people to run this company,sales people to run a TELECOM, REALLY!!) I see no chance that FTR will succeed with the line up of SALES people running this company.

I would urge the FTR president to offer buyouts to everyone on his team who came from any kind of sales background. They may be wonderful sales people but I believe are clueless in running a telecommunication company
By the way the executive board and the board of directors should take an immediate salary cut.
I would urge the FTR president to BEG former TELECOM managers that were fired to come back and save this company.
I do not understand WHY the banks that loaned FTR the BILLIONS they did, do not insist on it.
It is no secret that the customer base has been destroyed, the name Frontier = awful

They let go all the training department in the nation.. Was going to contract it out. Then found out what it would cost. Now not sure what to do. What a company. Been led by arrogant executives that have said "do it our way or get another job". That was about after the bought us. Citizens bought Frontier and then dropped their original name. We called them Sh--izens.
Techs are worthless. They steal pay take an hour to get out office, take long lunch. As Chris in bullhead said, she (the supvr) doesn't bother us, we don't bother her. No a countabilty, just as the techs like it
the company does not have two nickels to rub together.the buildings are not being adequately maintained,there is no money for new plant to be placed,the company has sold off every available property in ct.rediculous and nonsensical dispatching which leaves customers out of service for extended periods of time(techs doing routine work,and online training while customers are out of service),the company has a management team which appears to have no idea as to what they are doing,foolish decison on top of foolish decision.we have lost over half a million customers since the takeover,and all the company is focused on is gps tracking,and counseling sessions for techs not hitting some random productivity number that management cant even explain.

Connecticut state government should of never let At&t sell ct to frontier.. They ruined a great company. The first day of cut over was a disaster must of lost 1/3 of customers. Every since then they never built or maintained there network which was promised they would do. Ftr only interested in selling all properties basically dismantling company. Ftr executives should be in jail for what they did here in Connecticut.
They already track us, just can’t use the data against us unless they catch us doing something “wrong”.
Our Supervisor told the work group that starting May 1ST, The Company is Going to start tracking the Employees VIA Our phones... Another sign management thinks the loss of customers is because of a dishonest Work Force. Yet , We are the same "Work Force" That Kept VERIZON a World Class Telecommunications Provider. No DIPSHITS!!! , They took away a decent Dispatch System, our ability to select our work, and spread it out between us. Billing was totally Destroyed, Existing Customers FIOS Equipment Provisioning Information was lost, Not to mention Critical DATA Base info for EVERY Central Office In The Areas Frontier Took Over. Seriously, It Was like handing the Keys of a Nuclear Sub to a 5 year old!!! We really Don't have a product to sell, So the Stupid a-- Company is going to piss off money Monitoring Employees Driving in circles all day, Because they Have NO WORK? My Opinion, Offer Packages, Create some openings, Back Fill or not. Use copper to extend Bonded, ( Copper To TA 3000 Shelves?, Feed remote multiplexers for DSL?) More competitive price for Bandwidth? Figure SOMETHING Out Frontier!! But DONT, DONT Hit us with a Bigger Whip...

I've been with frontier for 7 years and all I got was price raised every year my advice to everyone, STAY AWAY FROM FRONTIER
They won’t offer it company wide because they’ll lose their best employees if they do. Only the under performers, those with a lot of debt, and those without seniority, will probably stay. The rest would most likely bail in a heartbeat if there’s a package. Sad but true. It’s a sure sign of a poorly-ran company.

Frontier Communications Says CEO's 2018 Total Compensation Was $7.1 Mln vs $6 Mln In 2017REUTERS - 7:45 AM ET. in the mean time they cut lower supervisors yearly bonuses and raise their medical. For union members they cut our performance bonus.
It appears ISP are being offered to job functions that FTR wants to contract out and only in areas where contacts prohibit it after layoff.
As for those in job roles with too many headcount; FTR is creating unrealistic standards (production points) and setting people up to fail.

In My Opinion, They Should offer the TPP, ( Termination Pay Plan.. Verizon Era..), To The entire Workforce On A SENIORITY Basis...
This would be the FAIREST Approach;
Employees who are ready to retire, But need an Incentive, Would Go...
Openings would be Created, Employees could Transfer to Areas closer to home, Possibly at a Higher Wage.

We have 2 tech's out of the workload every day helping our manager manage the load, 1 for fios and 1 for copper, no maintenance program and our plant is garbage, 5 to 6 jobs a day, I am getting tired of apologising to my cx every day
They will not offer buy out they will extend union contracts because it will not be worth the paper is written on chapter 11 or 7 CT has no core work and cluelesss mangment keeps losing customers

The buyouts are generally minuscule and offers employees 48 months of payments and a lump sum of 10k. You would think this would be a no brained for management. There are techs in WV that gross that much a month with their mandatory 70 hours of overtime.
I’m a tech in California. I think they’re trying to dump us. The reason for this? We were offered only a two year extension on our union contract til 2020. Texas bargained a four year deal til 2022. Plus Jerry Brown and his cronies tax big companies for doing business in California. State gas tax is also highest in nation surpassing Hawaii by .20 cents this year.
You would think it would be advantageous to offer buyouts to people that have no work. There are work locations in WV where people literally get paid to sit around all day.
