Despite the extensive efforts of Dr. Mario Molina, Molina Healthcare has chosen not to renew its contract with Golden Shore Medical Group. All Molina members who have been getting their medical care at Golden Shore Medical Clinics will have to find new providers . The implications and consequences of this are deep and wide. More sad times for Molina.

Permanent closures and headcount cuts for GSMG:
Long Beach (52), Moreno Valley (41), Ontario (75), Pomona (13), Sacramento (77), Wilmington (8)
If Molina HealthCare is so ashame of how Dr. Molina ran business when he was a CEO.. then change the company name.
Molina HealthCare does not deserve to use his family name.
You talk about how the company lost alot of money because of his family and friends yet you have the B&$$&@ of
gina turley spending millions of dollars in Epic and for what!? Only to be used by Care connections? Talk about incompetent people with big fat checks and titles.
Molina HealthCare your time will come! And by then all of GSM FORMER EMPLOYEES will sit back and watch and wish you the best.
Best regards,
A proud Golden shore employee.
Wow @WAjpgby-5shq, apparently you must be one of the personal vendetta persons still at Molina. Why so much anger and hostility? Apparently you're still in place at Molina and taking things personal. It is business and life does go on. People are on here to spew good and bad opinions. Regardless to what is going on today, many past and current employees went through an extremely emotional and scary time during the layoffs and justifiably have the right to question motives. Enough of the finger pointing and anger. At the end of the day, the members and the front line employees feel the fall out the most. Yes people will rebound, but it's ok for us to have empathy for the less unfortunate, its why we sit/sat in those seat daily. BECAUSE WE CARE, from your words, you truly are not connected enough to the people to care yourself. Whoever you are, I am going to send a prayer that your heart becomes unhardened. God's blessing to everyone and try to have a Great New Year!
Molina didn’t give GSMG time to negotiate before January 2018...he had to take it or lose the clinics (and Molina would hace shut them down back then.)
An independent actuary atated the rates Molina gave were 50% below where they should have been. Molina refused to meet face-to-face to negotiate since November 2018.
And how the hell does anyone think the “girl in the gym” played a role??
I know for a fact that the areas of risk Molina gave GSMG are unheard of. There is no other contract with an IPA that has the risk that GSMG does. Not even with Molina. For those that are familiar with the industry, outside of Molina, when have you ever heard of an IPA having facility risk or cancer d--g risk? Never, unless the IPA was full risk, which GS is not. Whats really sad are the Molina members and employees. Members are going to stay with their established PCP and leave Molina and already are switching. Thankfully this is California and they have a choice in their Health Plans. So when the members decrease, the need for job slots do also.
Great post!
And...........what about the girlfriends? How do we know that the girl in the Molina gym wasn’t involved in this somehow???
You have to learn to be a detective sometimes to get to the bottom of things.
For the person posting that works at GSM, was it bad faith when MHI gave GSM a year-long contract then asked for a 6 month extension in November to renegotiate which was turned down by GSM? Are they to blame for Dr. M's inability to know if he could manage his business with the rates he agreed to? If he was still the CEO (and thank god he's not), and some provider pulled the shenanigans he currently is, he would have had zero sympathy. Its ironic that Dr. M has spent much of the last two years adding to the negative public discourse that overwhelms our society versus concentrating on his business dealings. Go ahead and hate Trump, lots of people do. But he had a responsibility as our CEO to the company to which he showed a complete lack of control. He spends a ton of time cutting Trump and Republicans down in very personal ways while complaining about how Trump cuts people down and talks about others so disrespectfully. Those two men are cut from the same cloth, have similar bad habits, are blowhards, delusional, bullies, lie with ease, and both should swear off social media. For the person who posted about losing money and how its an old topic, its hardly one that can be dismissed. For example, his dipstick brother paid north of $200m for Pathways which the company wrote down in subsequent quarterly charges of $72m in Q2 and $129m in Q3 then we practically gave the thing away because it had no value. His equally dubious deal with the Pacific Hospital cost the company a cool $100m to get out of. Top that off with the $43m severance package. By the way, did they so much as donate $10 to a fund for their former employees who lost their jobs during project nickel to help with their employment transition? How about the fact that our former "CFO of the Year" bought and redeveloped 6th and Pine then turned around to lease it to Molina -- I'm sure there was no wink or nod about that deal prior to the redevelopment that they could make personal money on a deal with MHI. Ironic when the word "greed" comes out of their mouths or off of their finger tips when they epitomize greed. Same ol Same ol, blame others for THEIR failings. I see a pattern -- nearly bankrupted MHI with bad management and bad deals, now bankrupting GSM with an apparent bad deal he agreed to. Patients will be fine, it not the first nor will it be the last contract terminated between a plan and a provider. As for the clod that cuts down the company's end of year gesture of a holiday bonus -- they didn't have to do so and if you cannot use it, give it to someone who can as there is a lot of need in this community.
What if he switches the name up? Add a W and switch the ER to spell Golden Shower? Could be all cash and would keep the doors open...no??
Will Golden Shore exists after all this? And I wonder was this Dr M money are was the money put up from GS from outside investors. Will s--- if loses more $$$
This article seemed really one sided in support of the molina brothers, they seemed ready to talk about everything. And JZ/Molina didn’t say very much.

Negotiations happen when two parties are at the table. GSM was willing to negotiate on fair terms that are used in other contracts three have with providers. It was never met halfway. This is not the forum to go into details but unfortunately there are many losers in the way this turned out.
Well, how about you enlighten us (previous commenter) on the other side of the story? I’m all ears. But spare is the old, “The Molina’s can’t run a company and lost all the money”. That is getting old and really, the members don’t give a rats behind about that Molinas vs Molina stuff.
How was it not possible to find a workable contract with the clinics? I’m not closed to the possibility but let’s hear it.
This is very unfortunate. However, a very one-sided post that illudes to the only efforts being made by Dr. Mario. This couldn’t be further from the truth.
Hard to know how to respond to that since it seems difficult to sort out all of the things that have gone on with the Molina Bros "exit at the right time?/firing?/who really knows?" and the JW and now JZ team in charge. It all seems questionable to me. I'm sorry for any members who will suffer.
I work at GSM. What Molina Healthcare did was not in good faith. It wasn't surprising however. This will unfortunately have huge impacts on both our patients and staff.
Not suprising
