Make make no mistake , in the innovation center in Austin Michele Salinas had quite a bit of input as a former admin with NO education from dell rose due to some weird unethical relationship with Ahmed . Most were not let go because performance but numbers to save incompetent cronies . The folks who should have seen the door are the rejects from dell and HP. Its sad but hope Mary and Randy are professional enough to see this failed regime of friendly hires who are truly incompetent and completely go against the ethical training were forced . Truly sad

Many of the overstaffed IT you describe came in the first wave from HP when the center was opened. It was a quick and easy way to staff up. That is Randy Mott's baby.

The Austin IT Center are not immune to the layoffs. Expect them to be "significantly impacted".

Over the past 5 years GM overstaffed IT, which can easily be seen by simply walking down the isles. Many junior hires browsing Facebook, YouTube, Reddit, Twitch, etc. all day, every day. Lots of people walking into the office at 10 AM and walking out by 5 PM while leaving their laptops behind. A couple hours each afternoon there are usually two dozen people either playing or waiting to play Foosball or Table Tennis.

My manager told us two years ago that IT layoffs were coming. Some areas of IT froze hiring hoping that natural attrition would bring staffing levels down to reasonable levels. It didn't work as attrition remained low. This has all been in the works for a long time now.

They are keeping a very tight lid on things. No word yet. It is interesting to note that David Caldwell (GM Program Manager) was quoted as follows in the ABJ:

"The moves announced today do not directly impact Austin," spokesman David Caldwell said by email ."The Austin Innovation Center is mainly focused on IT services, including technical functions such as software development and app development. At this point in time we cannot specify potential future changes."

That also contradicts what has been communicated via email internally - that GM IT will be "significantly impacted".

You will find out in January.

Merry Christmas from GM!
