Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

No more IT in the building...should we be worried

So I just found out not that long ago that all of our IT guys in the call center took the seperation package and this shocks me because who will be on site to watch the servers etc? Coworkers are saying it will just be outsourced and if they need someone they will come out to fix stuff but this seems extremely inefficient to me so I’m wondering if the center will be closing and that’s why they won’t need IT on site

Yeah I just learned that just because the current IT guys are leaving it doesn’t mean the position is going away...they are hiring replacements that get paid less I guess which is shady as f--- but normal business practice. Our IT guys that took the separation are here til June

Mass VSP always requires some backfilling, but the plan was always to move all of it over to Infosys India. Your guys saw no need to train their replacements.
