I heard that they are doing this but has anyone heard what positions it will effect? This will be the 3rd year in a row of major layoffs plus the voluntary one. I understand that this is to save money but to what end? Verizon use to be a place to strive to get a job at and brought the best talent now it’s getting a rep that it does not care one bit about its employees

Vzw has NOT cared about employees in a decade.
But it’ll come back to haunt them as we know it has to be union so thru can’t do half the abuse they do.

Verizon hasn't "cared" about its employees for almost a decade.
The company mouthpieces have crowed about being a "best employer" in an effort to hide the reality, but too many young kids with only fast food job histories bought what they were selling as truth.
I know from very personal experience.
You see, I spent 13 years of my life working for and serving that company and its management and customers. Resolving issues others either couldn't or wouldn't.
In my time of need, my loyalty and service was repaid with disloyalty, a lack of compassion, a lack of understanding, and a cold, hard blade of the termination axe.
In all honesty, the pay was slightly better than mediocre, but definitely not the best employer or job I've ever had.
Leave and be happy... That's what I'm in the process of. Ignorant clients and terrible treatment for employees who deserved to have moved up years ago & commsion changes that hurt our finances. I know many people who can't even pay mortgages or car payments anymore.
