Thread regarding Sears layoffs

The kinds of leaders you choose to be

You can be the kind of leader that inspires loyalty and confidence in your subordinates, the kind that would lead them to follow to hell and back willingly. Or you can lead them to believe that you would stab them in the back and sell your own mother for a cup of tea if it gave you the slightest advantage. Actions define character, and the karma of those actions have effects well beyond the scope of easy comprehension.

My new boss is the smartest guy I’ve ever met in the appliance industry and is a self made multi millionaire. He does not tolerate incompetence, laziness or BS and the makeup of his company demonstrates that. Everyone plays on the same team and has the common goal of taking care of the customer. It is the exact opposite of what I had to endure from upper management toward the end of my career at Sears. There are better companies to work for, and when Sears ends up in chapter 7, it’s going to create a lot of opportunities for other better-run companies to capture their market share. If you did well at Sears, you will do well somewhere else.
