Thread regarding Micron Technology Inc. layoffs

Job security in Micron is Low

Ever since this new CEO took place, Micron has change tremendous.

Life is turning upside down.

Former Sandisk staff came in and replace important role which the Micron old Guards were force to leave Micron.

Memory commodity price was at all time high when he step in as a CEO. And has earn many billions for the last many quarters.

Yet layoff happened on this October even good earning report was announced.

Now price the DRAM and NAND price is going south, what are the next action he's planning to do?

Job security in Micron is Low.

Search for a new job if you can.

Micron is not a place where people can work till your retirement.

The environment is a throat cutting working place.

It may be necessary to look outside the box a little if you want to leave this place. The ability to learn something new will make it possible for a person to leave here.

Actually there are not many jobs out there. We have plexus and on semi here in the valley and they have job openings once in awhile. I know a lot of people who have been out of work for a long time after being laid-off from micron. I agree leave when you find something new for sure!

When the company is doing everything to tell you your job is being eliminated or you will be eliminated why on earth would you not find another job and leave? You are going to be gone at some time in the near future. Why leave on Microns terms instead of your own? I don't understand.If Micron has convinced you that there are no other good jobs out there, then it's definitely time to leave.

Although there are lots of people that have left, there are still that old wave of employees that were hired years ago that hang on and support Micron no matter what. They are so thankful that Micron gave them a job twenty five years ago they are loyal to the end. That is who Micron has running these areas that are diminishing as our jobs are sent overseas. These"company first" losers will screw you for the sake of the company policy at the drop of a hat. They are not smart enough to realize they will be gone as well. There is nothing else they are able to do. Pathetic!

They are losing technicians like crazy. I spent 9 years to get to 28.75/hr. I changed industries and withing 22 months am already making $29.60/hour...

My old manager used to have about thirty report or so. Everyone have been moved out of the dept or laid off. Now he has about five reports and they will be leaving in the next wave of departures. The manager is still there with the same title and the same salary, but now that he has almost no reports or work being done in his area they have changed his "mission" so he can keep his job doing who knows what all day every day. Why didn't they change our "mission "so we could have stayed?

The house cleaning happened years ago. Now good people are having to leave. Down right great people are quitting.

"House cleaning was needed", how can you say something like that? I/we all hope you get booted next along with the worthless managers you kiss up to!

House cleaning was needed? Don't you think it should have been done at the supervisor and manager first, instead of the actually worker. Seems like the same system is still in place. Most managers and supervisors do not have a clue on to how to create a positive work environment for an employee to excel. Hopefully you enjoy the new Micron culture.
