Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Would you bet against Eddie?

With all the mess that this is, would you bet against him?

So the board didn’t want to play and he said fine and balked at the last loan Payment.

Now he is the white night and looks like the last hope. Before bankruptcy he was the last hope too.

How many of his companies shorted sears on the way down? He made money on the loans. He made money on the properties. He made money on the other transactions.

So what’s the play now?

We know more stores close. But do the bonds live on? That was a huge back and forth as of late. Do folks buy stock?

What’s the play here to make money? Anyone smart enough to impart some real wisdom?

Even in a chapter 7 Eddie could outbid and restart.

Companies who want to buy the pieces/leftovers certainly do bid on a Chapter 7. Maybe Ross and TJMaxx want the clothing inventory, maybe Lowe's wants the tool inventory, maybe somebody wants a dozen empty buildings, maybe somebody else wants another five empty buildings, etc etc.

You don't bid on a Chapter 7, Chapter 7 means the entire company is gone.

You have to remember Eddie still has not offered to put in anymore of his cash , the bid is based on loans and debt roll over. Its really just to save face or see if the the Judge bites at a s---er bet. We will be down to 400 stores or so and still losing money. So the choice is let him buy the stores and everything else for maybe 950 million in cash and tell everyone they owe money to and the stock holders to just eat it. I would look for liquidation and I work here.

Eddie's net worth used to be about $8.5B. It's around $1B now, which is why he had to go around begging for liquidity to save Sears this go around after Sears lost $12B. He's made the sh--tiest bet of all time by betting on the worst CEO of all time, himself.

A lot of employees bet on Eddie. They're laid off, waiting for checks that never came, cancelled insurance policies, and more.

A lot of landlords bet on Eddie. They're left with empty buildings and broken promises.

A lot of vendors and suppliers bet on Eddie. Stories are that their loan shark are even threatening them with physical violence.

Sublessees bet on Eddie. They have ruined lives and closed businesses by the thousands.

Plenty of lenders bet on Eddie. Many are looking at 100% losses.

Why would anyone bet against a man with such a record of perfection when it comes to Sears?
