Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Ok decisions have been made

Everyone has now made their choice. What are the odds of HR either informing us prior to 12/10 what our release date is OR on 12/10 them saying you can turn your laptops/badges and whatever else in early and be done that week??? I'm ready to be OUT!!! Can I be hopeful?!

From what I hear most people who applied will be off the payroll at the end of the year. I am sure there will be some that last longer but probably very few.

I think we will be asked immediately to document our jobs and cross train replacements. After 12/10, I bet it morphs more into just being available to answer questions.

I would think that although Dec 28 is your last official day, you will be able to just pack it in on the 10th as long as you have turned in your phone, laptop, etc.. How much you really gonna get done after the 10th when you know you only have two weeks left and a holiday as well.

I think that's going to depend on the organization that you're in, what deliverables they still have before the end of the year, how much your role can be picked up by someone else, etc. My manager asked if they could put me in to stay until March or if I wanted to get out in Dec. But I got the impression that it's something that they request/work out with folks above them - managers don't have the final decision.

I already know my fate. I asked my boss if she knew who clicked, she did, and told me my roll off date.

My tasks were pulled shortly after I informed my manager I pushed the button with no intentions of recinding. Friday afternoon, all who volunteered in my department, were requested for a meeting Monday morning. Hard not to assume we will be informed one way or another.

I think they've been in denial, believing I'd change my mind and unclick. NOPE, never considered it. Now they're gonna be scrambling when they realize how many of us stayed Clicked. This is probably the closest I'll ever get to hitting the lottery, I couldn't be happier to get off the crazy VZ merry go round of reorgs, "transformation" BS, etc.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m told earlier than 12/10 what my off payroll date is but there’s zero chance they’ll escort me out on 12/10. I’m in finance, I assume on Monday they’re going to ask me to document my work and cross train my coworkers; they will keep me working until the last possible second.
