Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart wants to provide community space at its Supercenters

An interesting concept, no doubt. This is definitely a new approach and if it pays off the company will benefit greatly. On the other hand, the risks are significant and I see a lot of money being poured into this. Walmart showed many times it doesn't have the capacity to attract wealthier customers and the facts say that WM should stick to doing what it does best. This is potentially another failed attempt to appeal to a different group of customers.

So Walmart wants to reinvent the mall?

Let’s see how that works out.

Shopping at Walmart might seem cool even to the upscale, because who doesn’t like buying stuff cheap, but hanging out at Walmart? Nope, that’s for poors and trash. Nobody with money wants to be People of Walmart.

No one wants a Wal-Mart in their hometown even if it is upscale
