It’s just a job. That is all it is. It has never mattered what happened on a campus, the operating procedure comes from a higher authority. All employees have been told to operate like it is business as usual. Forget about the casualties of the business transactions, ignore your own wounds and keep the students happy. “If you keep the students enrolled you can keep your job until we no longer need you.” That is the read between the lines subtext. There’s nothing personal about the layoffs, this isn’t how a college operates but it is how a business looking to make high profit does business.
By the way, it’s just a job. They come and they go.
An employer is only loyal to an employee for as long as they are needed, it has nothing to do with productivity, quality or your loyalty to the company.
