Can someone volunteer for a package now or we need to wait for the next wave ?

Tread lightly. As a new round of layoffs fast approaches. If you volunteer don’t expect to be put on the list. Last April, QCT finance put out an email asking people to feel free to come forward. It was a smoke screen. The head of QCT finance, a complete hypocrite, used it to figure out who to run out of the company not to give a package to.
you can have a word with your VP to indicate your willingness to volunteer in the spring 2019 wave.
I heard they have too many volunteers and the problem Q faces is that (obviously) its top talent volunteering..........since they likely have next move setup already.
Easy to volunteer. Go to top floor of WT. open door to balcony and run 500 feet at the top speed. Top speed only as we are superior to all competitors.

Hard to say. If names have already been picked, and notices are on the way this week or next couple, then I've not seen it done successfully. However, if it's a general announcement coming that a layoff is being prepared, you can talk with your VP and let him/her know you wish to be chosen. Either way, inform your VP of your wish as more layoffs are in the pipe.
The volunteer slots could fill up fast.
