Their is life after AIG I can assure you. The job market is positive and the training you got from AIG will help a lot. You will come out of this fine.

Great post. Don’t be discouraged by a RIF. The market is good and there are much better opportunities, salaries and CULTURES out there. You’d be surprised from how abysmal things are at 175 Water how much of a more exciting, engaging and employee focused companies are out there.
Lot of good folks on my mind today who are no longer at AIG. Stay positive. Still have much to be thankful for.
Good advice. Job market is good now. I got RIF'd and found an even better job / pay. YOU CAN DO IT TOO. Hang in there, tap your contacts/network and keep records. There are other companies who value experienced workers for what they bring to the table that a younger work force simply hasn't experienced yet. This is more of a new beginning than an end. Fare ye well, don't give up and take a breather to enjoy Thanksgiving.
