Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Why are there so many job postings for Xerox?

I thought we were on a RIF high so what's the point if the company just turns around and re-hires people for those positions?

I am a manager and I just asked about the rehire after a RIF for a position I’m hiring for. Yes, It’s now 6 months.

To 1mny: I just gotta ask... Why do you want to go back? I also was laid off too but it’s not even on my radar to go back. My understanding is that benefits have been slashed, morale couldn’t get much lower & conjecture is that it’s being prepped to be split up & sold off. It just doesn’t look like a good prospect for future employment.

I too was laid off, but as I recall, the most recent HR policy update that I saw in August 2018 stated the time period for getting rehired in any capacity, either full time or contract was shortened to 6 months - used to be 18 months. Can anyone confirm?

I was laid off in April 2018. I have applied for 13 jobs that Xerox is posting. Full time. I am waiting a reply. I am not sure if there is a waiting period if you were IRIF.

Friend of mine just got hired as a contractor in Xerox in the printing area. Was weird talking with him after recently being laid off.

I know of several back-office roles (Finance, IT, Legal, HR, etc.) that have been posted in Webster and Norwalk which are critical for both operational and compliance; but, there is no intent to fill them based on the salary and benefits package being offered, especially in this job market and with all of the uncertainty over the near-term future of Xerox.

Engineering in Webster has historically not been hit as hard as other areas. With the uncertainly in the future of Xerox, engineers have left leaving us with gaps. There is a relatively good market out there for some engineering disciplines, and people are finding better paying, more stable jobs. In the meantime, that along with those that retire and the VRIF from a year ago are leaving engineering short handed, and I have seen open job postings.

The engineering teams need more people to keep up with the workload.
