I got a life when i left CA
You havent worked at CA for many years but still read this board? Get a life...
I am not bitter... Have not worked for CA for many years - make more money now than ever outside CA etc. And I still advice this person to get things in writing - especially when leaving an existing job to go work for a non mainframe part of Broadcom / CA
This is the last place you should be looking for advice. Why ask bitter people posting about how upset they are over what's happened instead of just moving on?
@Anon12345, my advice is this...
If you have a job at another company then make the best of it.
If you are looking to move to CA- Broadcom, my suggestion is to think twice, get assurances IN WRITING that you will have a job in case the BU is sold. If it is a sales job , be careful, BC does not offer ‘salesfriendly’ comp plans.
I worked for CA, do not now but have friends there and many who left.
Proceed with your eyes open...
Thank you guys..really appreciate some genuine responses..gives a feeler of the current situation and possible way BC is planning to take the non-MF products forward. Was not too keen on joining post acquisition and way BC has played out things with the existing employees..but the HR kept telling otherwise ( typical of HRs) based on the minimal info they were getting .
burn it buddy. sh-- company broadcom. u will get terminated..like others who are STAY
Assuming this is not a fake post... And assuming you actually would jump onto a sinking ship such as a distributed product group at CA/Broadcom.
Are you leaving an existing job? Are you leaving a company that might also do a layoff soon?
If you already have a solid job - then ask for some assurances in your employment contract...
Tell them the Internet chat is that any job at Broadcom is uncertain - that you want to work for them - but get assurance ... if they sell off BU etc. that they will pay you 6-12 months salary and cobra etc.
if the answer is no - well then you know
Stay away
Who could possibly jump on the Titanic?
Not a fake post..looking for genuine for suggestions please. My initial joining date was in Oct 2018 but looking at the turn of events, I got it extended to December as the acquisition was completing on Nov 5..U thought it is wiser to wait and watch for sometime before taking the leap..Now, I have a new joining date in December with a confirmation over email..I am still not sure looking at the developments and talks being on that BC might soon sell off the non MF products..Need some genuine advice please..trollers, please excuse.
Sounds like a FAKE POST to me by a BC. Veteran or ‘pfisher’.
My advice? Ask a lot of questions first...
If the letter was sent via Postnord in Denmark it might actually be from CA Technologies since it takes letters months to arrive
It's too stressful out here. Let the offer go.
Letter from CA Technologies? Something supernatural is going on here. Try to sprinkle it with holy water and see what happens.
