Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Any chance they reverse this decision?

I've been pleasantly surprised by the (negative) attention General Motors has been getting due to these layoffs in both media and among politicians on both sides.

I'm starting to hope that maybe, just maybe, all the negative publicity and all the pressure will cause the company to reverse course in some way.

Am I just hoping in vain?

Obviously GM has no regard for the livelihoods of these dedicated people, or they would have come up with a redeployment program, or pay cut program to save them.

I'd recommend looking up the term "get woke go broke", and spread the message.

This movement has been going on with other industries, and it means wake up and vote with your wallets. You break the backs of these companies by refusing to buy their products, and advocating against this kind of corporate nonsense. When enough people also awake to see this nonsense, it becomes self perpetuating. These instances are when companies lose customers for life.

GM has forgotten their people... Oh wait is it the people that make the cars? No really?? What the fudge Mary did you forget, that people, no really people make cars, no not Santa Clause does not make the cars.... that right real people make cars and have all the great ideas and get everything done in the plants and makes everything happen. I used to believe Mary had it..... all but???? I think she forgot where it came from.... Am I talking to you frankly? Well I can remember and I say that many of us... can remember that being a General Motors employee was the best thing since slice bread but!!!!!!!! now the most important thing is nice parking structures, fancy seating's that people do not like, at the VEC, oh and well what is most important.... is those young people with degrees, smarts, and lots to learn.... they have the book smarts, not any knowledge about how to make a cars???? mfg go, yep that now where the new GM is going down the tubes. Well Mary.. get rid of all the people who know how of mfg cars, how to price, build, create, etc. and you have a cluster yep. good luck with that sweet heart. I'm just going to say. Let the fun begin. ;)

Nothing will be reversed. You can bet on it.

They will not even think twice about puplic or political pressure. But contract negotiations are later this year. My guess is they will allow either lordstown or hamtramck to stay open if workers cave to managements demands. Baltimore and warren have no shot though their work has already been sent to other factorys.
