Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

T-Minus 31 days and counting

So here I am, it was a good run, Boston times were fun, very fun and I was not s-xist and discriminatory, but I guess I will need to pay the price for my forefathers. You really have to wonder what you get for being a good, clean and honest person at Fidelity. It really seemed like Ned cared and presented that this mentally/ethic would get you success, but the darker days arrived after 2000 = MVP, scale, efficiency, pace over perfection...whatever. Literally, not joking, and as I am typing this, I just got another 'denial' for a job I posted for today and it was circulated within my department as a hey "go for it", but clearly I am on the S.S. "Minnow" with no row boat.

Emptied out my desk today with the anticipation of January arriving....really no one cared, or asked what I was doing. Years of my life thrown into the appropriate security trash bin. I will slip out the back door with many years of service never to be seen again.

Truly and honestly, good luck to the younger folks I hope fido gives you a chance to build your career and nest egg and doesn't silo you into submission. Watch out for the managers who feel no empathy and care only about themselves, Fido harvests that trait in their so called leaders. Good luck and good bye...

To the original poster, just think, you’ll have more time to watch Netflix.

sage advice.

I tell my guys that they are working to maximize their economic potential. And so is Fid. Work hard, learn, grow, do a good job and once you approach a plateau here, move out before being let go. There is no love lost. Its a transactional arrangement. I do this to prepare them for what will be an eventuality for most of us. Everyone grows old.
