Managers have been given the headcount of how many people must go

All managers have already been given headcounts for how many people within their area must be let go. The list of impacted employees was decided prior to the formal announcement. You can expect them to target teams that are overstaffed, individuals whom are under performing, employees who are at the management level (based on HR rankings) yet have no direct reports, and areas of the company that do not align to the company's long term strategic priorities. For example those working on designing combustion engines will likely be hit pretty hard.

Apparently you’re not up to speed on GM IT. The entire Level 1 help desk was let go in dec/Jan of 2017/2018.

All level 2 & 3 IT people were moved down to be the new ITOC Command Center. We’ve had people quit & more than you can imagine walked out the door. So before you start implying you know who what makes where & whether or not they can do their job - investigate & get your facts right.

Get rid of the salary GM technical experts that don't understand how a business works or what an economy is ! Or what check book is and how they operate ! Do hire the contract head that has to teach them how it all works. I want to make six figures watching robots screw 4 bolts into an aluminum frame and pretend I know what I am talking about. They are no different total wastes of time and money , "what would you say you DO here" Top Gear.

Do hire the contract head that has to teach them how it all works. I want to make six figures going to meetings all day and sit in front of my lap top and pretend I know what I am talking about. I agree , alot of the older people are extremely arrogant ,mostly managers. along with the new hires very arrogant also , they all just got b--ch slapped didn't they! Soon you will see alot of for sale signs in Bloomfield and Beverly hills , Lapeer , Oxford ,m---ord and many other areas. Way to much arrogant entitled a--holes at these companies.

And, of course, these "managers" will not put up any fight about alternatives to save their employees. They'll simply do what they are told to do. Simple stooges of higher level management. No thinking of any other solution.

Cut the 60 yearold's with 6 figure salaries and 30 plus years. They have be protected long enough. They walk around like they are god's gift to GM. Hit M---ord and Warren no one should be expendable.
