Thread regarding Thomson Reuters layoffs

The same executives

The question I have is why the Board of Directors has left in place the same executives who have been in charge all this time and have achieved less than stellar results. I don't see any reductions in the executive layer. Same CEO. Same CFO. Two new duplicative executive jobs were created. How many Chief Operating Officers does a firm with 27,000 (today) employees need? Below that, same ops leaders. If you take a look at the business strategy in the town hall materials, it is no different that previous strategies - just reconstituted to describe the change from business units to customer groups. If it hasn't worked before, why would they think it would work now?

All this means is that any of us can be cut at any time if it boosts share price. It's every man / woman for himself/herself.

Because that’s how the trashbags at McKinsey makes the plan palatable to the spineless execs at the top. Leave the highest levels untouched and decimate the middle.

Gotta admit the Exec Team doing good job getting share price up with all the layoffs...at some point won't be enough people to drive revenue, wonder if the McKinsey folks considered that

Because these executives hire external consulting firms (who charge a boat load of fees) to advise them. Since the consulting firms don't know what to do, they just throw some spaghetti at the wall. On the last go around, the advice was to hire more marketing people. They don't realize that the Thomson Reuters business was built by nerds (so to speak) and the hiring the ex-football players, ex-cheerleaders, and the "dog ate my home work" people who decided to major in marketing to save the business was a bad idea. These kinds of people should stay with selling used cars or be realtors (wear fake rolexes and drive leased Mercedes). Never believe these spin doctors!
