Thread regarding First American Corp. layoffs

First American Title

Thank you First American Title for so many things. Thank you for treating my partner, after so many years of DEDICATED service, to the biggest F you on Dec 4. Weeks before Christmas. My spouse worked holidays, in the middle of the night, very sick and was on call. Thank you for walking these dedicated “payroll numbers” out as if they had done something wrong. We are about two months from living on the street. We are scared and who hires in December? Shame on you. Enjoy your greedy selves and your upper level bonuses (fact) as you drive in each morning. We are real, we are floored, we are scared, we are obliterated from this.

They are just going around like a headless chicken . No Strategy, silly expenses like moving people within the organization , splurging on different unnecessary tools and filling Contractors Pockets .

Need Young blood from top to bottom to appreciate true talent , maximize revenues and keep operational costs low instead of cutting down on staff. The new CTO,COO and their direct reports have no clue how to run IT and Operations both.

During such low times cut down on cosmetic expenses like renovating the Cafe,Painting. Get rid of all of the Contractors and have your own people work on new and upcoming Projects. You just wasted time and there is no significant move to the Cloud. Also you do not realize with the volume of transaction and apps that we have Cloud expenses will be a NIGHTMARE.

Really hilarious to see the recently added five star reviews for this company on Glassdoor, probably hr managers trying to boost their rating. Ha.

Yes, unfortunately I was also let go along with several of my peers. It appeared to me that the company cut deeper this time than previous layoffs I have seen but interestingly took a few of the top shelf talent out of the picture - which of course were also well paid talent. I find it amusing that as they look to modernize they want to continue doing things the same way they always have, as someone with inside knowledge I can assure you this is not a good working or career situation to be in and my advice for anyone other than an intern is to avoid First American like the plague.

I was also laid off and am devastated. Over 60 and female, a really a cruel thing to do right before Christmas. I am also scared. Can't sleep and can't relax. Not a healthy situation. Shame on you FAF.

It's interesting, most of the managers on the operations side are terrible, up to the VP in building 9. They do not foster innovation, are scared to take risks, don't appreciate someone trying to change things for the better and pretty much want to keep the lights on.

For that reason, the business has to bring in solutions for themselves. Really sad. So, they bring in a new CTO, are moving out to the cloud, and did their first big layoff today. But, the same people who are responsible for the lack of innovation and for not providing what the company needs are all still there. Geraldine, pull your head out of your rear end and stop protecting your reportees. They are the problem, not the people who bust their butts day to day.

Really sad state of affairs. If you're an employee researching First American, keep in mind that once more is out to the cloud, they will fire more people and bring in contractors to support it. Your job will be short term.

Poor, poor morale around that company now, and for good reason.
