Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Got accepted but with a later date than expected.. can I quit?

Got accepted for 6/28, really needed 12/28 or 3/28. Can I just turn in my two weeks and quit? I know I would obviously be forfeiting the VSP package money, etc. Is that even possible?

If you really don't care that much about the package, but wouldn't mind it, you can always try to say that you are willing to work till 3/28 if they can give you the package then. If they can't, you will quit with two weeks notice now. But you have to mean it!

Maybe they will try to accommodate, maybe not

You knew ahead of time you could not choose the date and it could possibly be June - that was made clear. Yeah you can quite, give up your severance and benefits.

I would say do it ... package is just thank you note by the company and a generic deal. You have specific situation ... walk like a king

For me it’s a lot of money on the table. If you get a better offer, take it. That’s my plan.

Indentured servitude was outlawed by President Lincoln... so unless you have some contractual obligation, you are free to leave at any time.

What kind of question is that?

You can quit anytime you want, no one is stopping you.

In fact the Co would love to see more people do it.

If the package isn't good enough for you, then just quit.

Of course it is. Just give your two weeks notice whenever you want. They can’t make you stay.
