"The Bureau of Labor Statistics still counts "voluntary" buyouts as layoffs, so the Verizon employees will go in that category when they leave the company." Thank you cnn for telling us what verizon execs refused to admit the whole time. This makes a future rif much more likely since its no different from the voluntary pkg.

If the VSP counts as a layoff, the real question is does the WARN Act apply with the minimum 60 day notice?
CNN is worse then fox, HUFF POST, MSNBC, etc.
All biased and all fake news.
@ljc - guess I hit the nail on the head with you worshiping CNN...
for the record, I didn't say any MSM outlet gets it right... ever since they started 24/7 news channels based on ratings, they've become the 4th estate.
But go ahead and enjoy your confirmation bias- I strive to be a critical thinker, and they didn't pass the sniff test when Obama was in office.
Where is Trump? Should address this Like GM, take away Government subsidies , Tax Break.
Really pvk? CNN is the same as all the other news sources. Unless you're talking about Fox, Huffington, or MSNBC. Those biased POS's are the ones who are sharing reality. Every major news outlet makes mistakes. I guess you've fallen victim to Biff's propaganda. That guy hates the truth as much as you.
You may want to quote a more credible source than CNN.
They've been caught lying before. I'm not saying you're wrong, just that not everyone worships CNN like you.
Verizon is probably trying to stay off the EEOC's radar.
If they count it as layoffs then we shoyjd be able to file for unemployment
There will be a future rif. There will always be one till there is no more Verizon or they change the name to something else.
That some organization counts it the same as a voluntary layoff doesn’t matter.
