Thread regarding CVS layoffs

If you're hourky and reading this...UNIONIZE ASAP! MORE CUTS COMING!!

People are being moved to other stores if your store doesn't have enough hours, whether it's 5 miles away or 50, if they offer you a position and you DO NOT take it..your gone. No severance..nothing! Presently a management employee and heed my words both pharmacy and front store...UNIONIZE ASAP. I was against unions until I found out what's to come and little by little there will be a major cut in employees. It's starting up front and moving towards pharmacy. They've overextended their purchase of Aetna and hourly employees will begin to see the effects.

It’s not a lie at all. Look at your demand 12/30. Got cut 150 hours FS. Down to 185. Pharmacy only has 40 hours to give a tech for a whole week.

If the staff was union across the company then yes it would make a differance bc as of right now we have zero say in our jobs. When I say zero I mean that we are voiceless. Union would give a voice even if its minimal its still a voice.

In essence we aren't like factory workers to where we could walk off , however if the store management doesnt show up the stores would not open ,which means Neither would rx or any other services we have in the store.

I work in a union store. Union doesn’t change anything. It’s a pipe dream that it will help.

Private sector unions haven't meant a damn thing for more than half a century, especially in the wake of recent Supreme Court unions. Union dues can't be forced anymore. At will employment is the default rule in most states, and employers can fire you if they had a particularly bad sh-- that morning in most states. With so many layoffs at CVS, it's an employer's market, and with retail jobs all you have to do is place an Internet ad and have 500 applicants in a week for a company like CVS, especially in an economic downturn like one that's beginning now. Sure you can unionize. You can protest. And you can get fired en masse, just like what's happening now. It's not like CVS is a factory where everyone walks out and things grind to a halt. As long as Rx is happy, corporate is happy.
