Piling up new managerial positions

Regarding the announced hirings, I’m reading that 6000 managerial positions will be open for new employees. The company officials are stating that all of these reorgs are made to achieve a better commitment to the customers, better services, and a simplification in company procedures. Just wondering, in what world does add new layers of management equal simplification and better commitment? On the contrary, in my book, it only means more interested managers that slow down even everyday activities.

I believe the new jobs are more title than anything else. They cut higher paying department managers and will amaze job seekers with supervisor and other fancy titles.

Those people won’t know they are making around $8.00 an hour less for doing the same job that was cut. They will be happy drones with big smiles and a title.

Companies have played this game for years, now with social media and message boards people share information so it’s coming back to bite them.

We need more associates in the aisles not managers in offices.

Not really a new layer, but refining Store Service/Support Managers as Department Supervisor, with more hired so they are not spread as thin. Also stores that are at $40 Million and above will get another ASM. This is because few of the Dept Sups will have front door keys and security codes.

It looks like the manager in charge of the new merchandising/stocking team will be ASM level.
