Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Priority over other applicants?

It’s so hard to know what management is thinking. Does anyone know? Are Lps and PSIs given priority over other applicants for a position? And if 5 PSIs are all going for a PSE job who gets preference? I would not want to be in the hiring managers shoes.

At our store they posted 3 specialist positions today. In the meeting was told who to hire today even though they s--- and are like a cancer. Tomorrow telling sm he can do the interviews i have better things to do. Plus i don’t have time between nap time” power hour”. What a joke. Going to start the job search this week. Was at depot when Carvin Marvin was there. It’s like dejavu. Not that it matters but i own businesses that buy from Lowe’s and are two of the biggest volume accounts for Pro at two different stores. Guess I’ll move that business back to HD. Even though i hate them.

Lowes propagates bad management in the "good ole boy network" of business. Only the buddies or girlfriends get the jobs. They are told in advance to apply. They fudge the interview information and promote their chosen ones even if they are the least qualified. There is no one looking at true skills or who is truly the most qualified. It is not like a normal corporate job. It is very unfair and discriminatory and at least half of Lowe's store managers, ASM's, etc. should be fired for their inappropriate practices. People naively think they can work hard and that will help them move up but the only thing that helps people is s---ing up to the right group in charge. If they don't want you to s--- up to them then you are still out. It is like mean kids in junior high. No one enforces correct HR policies either so this has gone on for decades.

It is corrupt. They hand select who they want for positions and they do not consider other people. They may fake an interview but are never going to hire anyone other than the hand selected ones. Same applied for the Service Manager training. They chose who they were going to put through it before it was even mentioned to the people in the store and the ones who were more qualified that were interested but not chosen were given lame excuses. It is all rigged so incompetence can continue and the elite group of strengthens.

The “winner” of the interview(s) is preselected, Lowes just wastes your time and has you go though the process so you think it is fair. Every single position I’ve had since the part time seasonal one I started with I got because a manager said I should apply. Every position I applied for without a manager saying to apply I never got an interview.

Our MSM was preselected. Posting was put up. All qualified candidates were ignored. It happens. Was driven by market director and regional sales director. If they want you in you’re in. Out and you’re out.

In my opinion, it's who you know, they seem to always know in advance who they want even before the interview process!

It could be a bad situation. Now PSI's and LP's were not direct report to the store so most SM and ASM would not feel the pressure to add them over qualified applicants. PSE is not a job you give a flunky. If you have not done it before, I was told by a previous PSE, it would take 6 months to get acclimated and be somewhat successful.
