Im seeing lots of open DM positions on taleo.
I know most jobs are on freeze until February...but could this be an inkling to the DM’s being phased out?

The Merchandise Manager positions returning is just a wild dream, but it makes sense. Execution of merchandising and store events is important, and eliminated DMs would be good candidates. They could go to top doors in this role. In reality, that’s what they do already. DMs always end up working at the bigger doors anyway.
What's going on with merchandise manager positions? I saw someone above post that Macy's should bring them back in growth 50 stores.
There are some really good people in those DM roles. That would be sad if they are severanced, but they’ve been expecting this for years. Company should eliminate DMs and add them as Asst Store Mgrs in Growth doors. Then take a manager or two from that growth door and add into a Neighborhood Store. Or the company could bring back Merchandise Manager positions into the G50 doors.
