Since I’m seeing a lot of salaries thrown around feel free to see how you compare to your peers. It is illegal to prevent sharing of salaries so no worries. Please post what you feel comfortable with - level, position, and base salary

I didn't get laid off as an 8A and my salary is atleast 25k higher than the highest posted so i'm doubting it's salary based. We've been given the all clear. I feel bad for the folks that got hit. This is way worse than 2008!

My manager wasn’t aware you could give nch’s 7% raise and one of my peers told him you could and started giving the top nch’s 7%
Did anybody you negotiate the salary you started with or how it increased?
When they told me how much they offered me I just kind of said "oh neat, thanks"
And Everytime my manager explains to me what my pay increase is (NCH) I just say "oh neat, thanks".
@X9KJPTO-1igj yes that was the same meeting, and thinking about it i completely agree with you. If both people are just satisfying they will keep the cheaper option for sure and neither is a "top performer"
Currently: 6A $99k
Started 2013: 5A $74k
Formerly 'GPS' Engineer in Pontiac, Same position/group for all 5 years

Our director held a staff meeting after speaking with HR right after layoffs were announced. Can confirm these are salary based, not performance.
It seems like it varies by department and staff size.
Well in GMIT no one has been here over 12 years...engineering is a diff story
We were also told these were not performance based. The VSP confirms this. Why other than salary would they gun for people with over 12 years? It's common sense.
Our director told us these were salary based and to cut teams with too many people. We were also told that there would be reorgs after the cuts.
Was this the same meeting where they said they didn't know who would be cut but the last was put together the Thursday before and needed to be vetted and they would be surprised if January ends and no action was taken and they assume that if you had a bad performance review last year and this year or mid year nothing had changed and it was still bad you would be let go?
Because if so, then yeah, I was there too.
Having said that, it would be odd if it was JUST performance based and cost wasn't taken into account at all. At least to me it would be. Cost to performance ratio with performance being a tie breaker and priority in the search to cut makes sense, but they're doing it to save money, and at 15-30% being cut at some point they start cutting people who are "meeting expectations". I mean they would have a stack ranking of people in the same group, but if person A is costing you $120K and is 9th out of 12 and "meeting expectations" and person B is costing you $72K and is 12th out of 15 and is "meeting expectations", and neither is 100% necessary, I'd think person A is getting cut first
I was told word for word “this is strictly performance based and re orgs will happen” by a director. What is wrong with him saying it? He said in in front of 100+, his entire org, Im not going to mention his name but I’m sure others can confirm
Just adding from the "Austin Manager Reporting In" Thread that kicked this one off, so it's all in one place @X9CczBO:
