I heard yesterday they're nowhere near the desired number and that more layoffs are planned throughout the week to get there. Not sure if this is true, I have no idea where the person got their info, but since this is Windstream, I'm leaning more towards it being true.

Laid off after 19 years. Seems to me the people let go were some of people who had been there a long time and had higher (but still lower than industry standard) salaries. I'm leaving with a unique set of knowledge and skills, specific to the legacy/merger aspects of the network, that are not going to be extremely difficult to replace if at all. Loyalty and hard work do not pay off when the company survives by playing the numbers. You have to take care of your people too or you are doomed to fail, no matter what the books look like.
This place needs to layoff this management team! They are running this place into the ground!
Listen to those around you. Cuts will continue as long as Windstream struggles to make $$. Go with the flow and work hard and maybe things will work out. Or wait for your pink slip, take your sevence and look for something else. Best of luck to everyone.
I'm not sure about today, but I suspect another hit will occur on the 24th.
