Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

no WARN for MPG?

I was at MPG , there is no WARN form in my package. Are there different severance packages for different locations?

WARN is on a per location basis, and has specific triggers that require notice.

If they keep the number/percentage of layoffs below the limits at a particular location, WARN isnt triggered and they dont have to notify.

GM has done a lot of "trickle" layoffs in the past, laying off just a few percent every month and stretching the layoffs over the year to avoid having to do WARN.

Under WARN Act provisions, an employer who orders a plant closing or mass layoff without providing this notice is liable to each unnotified employee for back pay and benefits for up to 60 days during which the employer is in violation of the WARN Act. (The employer's liability may be reduced by the amount of any wages or unconditional payments paid to the employee during the violation time period.)

Yes there is. WARN has to do with the amount of employees laid off, that you have to give them 60 days notice.
