Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

RIFing the “expensive” positions

From what I can gather in the cases I've seen, they are IRIF'ing the "expensive" positions then rehiring at a lower rate, especially if the rehire is offshore. But even if the rehire is onshore, they can IRIF a position that was $50k with someone that doesn't have as much experience for $30k. Or, they can rehire a 1099 contract employee and get out of having to pay the Benefit load.

This is no big news and we all know how this game is played, but I felt that more people should see this truthful post on the board. OP is @XC6MMuR-1vyz

In many cases these highly compensated people were paid at these rates for a reason - they saved the the company a lot of money and were great at what they did. The buffoons running the show don't care about that though. Short term these cuts of these people look great on paper. Long term it will be a net loss. Johnny V and I-CON won't be around in the long term, so they do not care. What an awful, toxic place to work - both at Xerox corporate and what is left of GIS. More to come though for the cores after consolidation - next up: OUTSOURCING. Best option is to try to line up a new position and get the severance (c-appy as it may be) at the same time. That's tricky tho with the timing.
