Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

"GM does not intend to permit me to be placed in a work assignment on GM property"

This line in the release agreement. Does this mean that if I was to be hired by a supplier that was working on a GM project and wanted to assign me on GM property, GM would not allow it? That seems like BS to me, and I might actually be concerned by it since I've built some connection with supplier company while working here that I am trying to seek employment with.

I was laid off from GM in 2009 and went on to work at agencies on GM business. You're fine.

Don't forget the OTHER page that is titled

FUTURE EMPLOYMENT CONSIDERATION AT GM

It says "Employees who have separated from GM under the terms and conditions of the GM Severance Program (GMSP) are eligible to apply for future employment.

So the agreement suggests those fired are persona non grata, but then the packet includes a link to https://search-careers.gm.com

Go figure.

It just means that there is no "plan" to reassign you to another role. It does not preclude you from applying to other positions, it just means they're not going to place you there.

You were laid off and they don't want you back as an employee or a contractor. Look at the shooting that just happened in Illinois. Employees who are laid off or fired are potential problems.

They can't do that. You need to make a living, I do not care what anyone says. Hogwash.

Doesn't it contradict that laid off employees can be rehired? They even have gm.careers.com url in the documents they gave.
