Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

PepsiCo Outsourcing Article

Posting from another thread here because I think it needs to be seen. It's a great article about the reputation that sticks to Indra and will now start stinking up Ramon.

I work in IT. The visas aren't the problem--we usually can only hire exceptional people due to the extra costs and effort. But our "managed services" contractors? Completely different. We changed vendors last year and the new people have been terrible. Granted, our systems are ludicrously complex (don't get me started), but they had plenty of time to shadow and cross train. But all we can get are contractors. Our team went through more than five last year. They cost more per hour, but their take home pay is lower than ours, and they don't have benefits or PTO. I can see why we're not attracting the best talent, but it's so infuriating because they're obviously costing us more in the long term. The only reason we were allocated contractors is because 1/3 of our team left and our 5th level manager is not signing off on job postings. Not to take this to a racial place, but all of the contractors were non-native English speakers, and most of them needed work authorization. I honestly don't care where people come from if they're good at their job, but these managed service vendors are taking everyone for a ride. Literally no one wins except for them. And it's mind boggling that PepsiCo leadership signs off on it.

@XGSHa03-ejc IT is frustrated too, to say the least.

Can someone please explain how outsourcing amounts to a win? It's like letting your gardener practice surgery. All I hear is how absolutely frustrated the business partners are and how people can't keep up cleaning up all c-ap from the screw ups. Where do the numbers come from for Town Halls about the outsourcing miracles that are happening? Maybe the really savings come from putting all of this fertilizer in the orange and potato fields. So much for honesty, integrity and loyalty. The inmates are now running the asylum.

I heard that an internal team has been assembled to identify even more outsourcing opportunities.
