Check the dates on the cover letters of the two different severance packages you get concerning the January mass layoff of Lowe's Loss Prevention Professionals.
On my two packages, they back dated the supposedly "updated" (lesser by 50%) figure one day BEFORE the first package they sent out. On the first severance package, the one with the larger amount, the cover letter is dated Feb. 16. However, on the second severance package, the one with the smaller amount, the cover letter is dated Feb. 15. This despite the fact that they were clearly sent out 6 days apart according to the dates on the UPS envelopes, with the one with the LATER date being sent first.
I do not know if this is another Lowe's "trick", or merely another indication of their incompetence.
This would appear, to me at least, that legally the larger figure is the corrected figure...as the cover letter associated with it is dated one day later than the cover letter associated with the smaller figure. If this needs to go to court, that can be a strong piece of evidence.
It's remarkable how a company like Lowe's can screw this up so badly.
Another point: Note how Lowe's doesn't put any monetary figure at all in the actual agreement we are to sign. This would appear to indicate that they could send us whatever amount they choose and be within their "rights".
The more and more this carries out, the more and more it looks like lawyers need to get involved.
