Thread regarding Payless Shoes layoffs

We had the opportunity to see that we were heading in this direction.

Let’s be honest, everyone of us hoped that liquidation and store closures wouldn’t happen and that the company would be, at least partially saved by some miraculous turn of events. But the truth was there to bee seen for a long time.

I’m not just talking about the lack of company direction or the inability to innovate, but also the symptoms could have been seen on a regular, everyday level. A successful company doesn’t let the practices like hiring people only because they are cheap or a severe lack of training occure. They also don’t let the stores be understaffed and understocked to a disgraceful degree. It’s obvious that a leadership that couldn't make everyday company business function properly didn’t have the potential to bring the company out of the freefall.
