The DM is a piece of work. It seems not being promoted for decades made them very bitter. They constantly drive our store manager nuts, which in turn, causes the store manager to take it out on us. I also found out how difficult it is to get promoted. An incident occurred where someone desperately wanted to be promoted and waited years for the opportunity because the DM had a personal grudge.
I ask you, what kind of business has this petty kind of practice?
How do they expect you, in good faith, to sell a membership card, knowing they won’t be around?!
That tells you the kind of company they are.
Do they still threaten your jobs if you don't sell that stupid member card?
Is anyone's store a happy place to work? I've never seen so many miserable people in my life. So many are looking for new jobs.
The corporate execs are the worst. They have no clue what really goes on. The manager makes the store seem like Disney World when they visit. And everyone is so polite to employees then. SO FAKE!
A lot of the SM's are stressed to the max.
You do not want to see some of the emails they get from DM's, who'm probably get even worse one's from Regional.
It's a lot of pressure, with bare bones staff:
Do all of these things, hit all of these goals....BUT DO NOT GO OVER PAYROLL!
It's absurd.

Working for Barnes is similar to living under the Gestapo. Everyone is uptight (especially management) and is looking to destroy anyone who doesn't conform to the madness.
I don't see anyone writing anything good about their store. We must all be in the same boat.
They can't tell you want you can't read! That's illegal.
And you can write on this site, ever hear of freedom of speech?
@I Love my cafe people, the old fashioned way, walking by and seeing the screen over your shoulder. And, it doesn't even have to be spotted by a SM; there are plenty of Kapos on any crew who are looking to curry favor with management and would be glad to rat out a free-thinker.
