Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Curious

How many memberships do we lose on average every time a Club closes? I'm assuming some members are willing to drive to the next closes Sam's Club, but not all of them.

Also, wouldn't this be a really good incentive for those on top to use closings literally only as a last resort solution?

When ours closed there were a lot of memberships lost, but I couldn't put a number on it. I remember hearing from some people that they closed all of them in Washington State and somewhere else. Not sure how that makes sense money wise. Keeping at least one open would have boosted sales. Instead they decided nobody gets one and lost all those memberships.

Does it really matter. Marketing goes out and resell same people gives them new numbers and a gift card . How do you make money like that?

This is a very curious question. Hope it wasn't keeping you up at night . Does it even matter how many are lost ? There are many factors I'm sure they look at when closing a Club. I wouldn't think losing memberships are at the top of the list. If the Clubs are not hitting there budget and barely making money and thats with memberships ....... why stay open ?
