Retail wireless as a whole is the piggy bank for bringing 5g to market. Wireless is the cash cow and given our goals and performance versus the compensation they are more than profitable. As long as the performance is there and profitable results continue retail stores will be around.

People really need to stop with the Wireless/Wireline. Last I checked, we were one company.
Organizationally, wireless and wireline backdoor functions were all merged over 8 years ago.
Now the rest has been merged.
It's now Consumer and Business.
To the OP:
Stupid is as stupid claims. Unnecessary post, and not even true.
That 'cash cow' had, and continues to have the bulk of the infrastructure it uses paid for by the wireline side of the company. If wireless were to spin off and have to actually spend money to build or lease its network it would likely fail or become nothing more than the likes of a value added reseller.
