Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

B2B...Are sales roles going to get hit?

Retail, call centers, and Indirect all hit. Closed door meetings still happening within B2B any news out there on possible layoffs. The normal high pressure micromanagement has stopped the last month and even more so the last week. Nobody seems to care which makes it seem like they know more than they are saying and Directors have supposedly signed a non disclosure. If a commissioned rep does get riffed with this 2 or 3 week payout does that include full commission, %, or just salary?

Store reps will have to defer to a business specialist, a lot of people who work with certain retail reps at certain stores will now have to be handed off to a business rep. No more retail meddling with accounts. Or the very least, on a limited basis.

Urpd

Can you explain this further? Business accounts are no longer available to be touched in stores any longer? Sounds like everything the BAMs have been asking for over the years.

They're reducing the the number of devices before a hand off is required to the business channel. Any clients who worked with a special rep in their store now have to work with a business account manager. Gonna be some p-ss-d off reps if this goes into effect, hence all the B2B meetings.

Rumor had it that B2B Directors had a mandatory call last Thursday.

May be that way in retail but I am still making good money in B2B so other than the threat of layoffs monthly and all of our support gone in a month that will not be what pushes people out. No growth opportunity, management that doesn't want to be here, and the expectation of more work with less tools and time is what is going to force people to leave. Financially we are well taken care of at Verizon and that is tough for many to leave even with the poor culture.

I don’t believe Verizon will pay reps to leave. They will keep making the commission structure worse to force tenured reps to quit or coach them out for metrics such as “hum” and “ard”.
