Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Good time to join Lowe's?

I'm guessing I can get a more honest answer to this question here than anywhere else: is this the right time to join Lowe's?

If you need a paycheck while you are looking for another job, go for it. But don't plan on a career And always remember: The next conference call could result in another thousand layoffs....including yours.

Lowes is a ship, lost at sea, without a captain, in a storm, with no course.

Nothing, makes any sense. Daily, its just chaos, with no direction, and when you politely and professional question, or inquire, or ask a simple question, you are scolded in some way shape of form. Usually talked down to and threatened. Its a hostile work environment, and we are all set up to fail.

Our manager(s) only dictate, yell, scold, and threaten. Daily, people cant take it and are quitting faster than any are being hired. Nothing ever improves, gets addressed, or fixed. Only worsened.

It is literally, IMPOSSIBLE to do your job, and whatever title you are hired as you can forget about. You WILL NOT work your job! I was hired as Pro Loader and I worked everywhere other than the canopy. The Pro specialists work lumber by unloading trucks and cutting on panel saw. This isnt "some times" or a small percentage of the day. Its 100%, every day. We;ve complained, addressed these matters to corp, and nothing gets done. All the manger Dratch does is demand credit card apps every day, big sales, and customer service knowing they are outside unloading sheetrock and lumber. How is this ethical? I felt bad for them.

Its all a sham, nonsense, and romper room and managment all know it, yet posture as if its not happening. Same with my loader job too. All they did was criticize me. ASM Malachi would promise me a winter jacket and i had to use my own that got destroyed. He even took my chairt away for times it was slow. I froze, standing outside in 10 degree weather with no customers all day long with no concern at all from managers. They would just yell "get outside" . Dratch would make me use leaf blower in january on 0 degree days. It was inhumane.

I was pro loader in 1192 and quit after a 15 year Pro specialist was fired for a lie, They set him up. They did him up wrong.

Now my friends still working there say the del coordinator quit, and del manager to. Seems everyone is quitting, and all management does is yell louder, and get more p-ss-d off. They never listen to employees, only tell em what to do. With no reason or thought. Its a very bad place to work.

Perhaps other stores are different but its not worth the gamble.

Well, there is an unbelievably low standard for excellence at Lowes. So if you are an above average slacker this is your chance to be a star!

Yes and no.

Yes: if you’re out of work and need a job to springboard to another better job then yes.

No: if you have a job then it is probably way better than working here. So don’t give up your other job for Lowes.

Only if you are applying to work at the district ( market) level. They strut around in the stores with their back packs and laptops and really don’t bring anything of value. You get to keep your job through multiple restructuring and title changes, be an a-- to the store associates and get away with it. You also can go to lunch and not come back, disappearing for the rest of the day, doing nothing all the way up to the weekend.

You can join if you would like... But seriously do not count on a career... This place is a cesspool... And at this time in the game all employees are floating turds.... If you have an education then go forward elsewhere

In short, HELL NO!..

STAY FAR, FAR AWAY. They're constantly laying people off, and we've just gone through 2 department eliminations and layoffs, to the tune of thousands and thousands of people losing their jobs. Not worth the stress and anxiety for little pay wondering if your job is safe.

If you need a job then go for it. Not every store is bad. If you have better use of your skills then don't stop looking for something better.
