In my GM world in Pontiac my Sr manager and regular manager hired alot of people to the group , now would they have done that knowing in advance they would have to cut people in four to five months in the future ? I would say absolutely not. My point is the b--tard's at the top caught us with our pants down with this inhumane way of handling business Period , my managers in my circle seemed to be decent people and I know they didn't see this coming. Think about it , Hi welcome aboard to GM in five to six months your fired ! This was handled like we are Spaceballs at Ludacris speed.
Sadly, this is absolutely true. Reposted from @XYYN73Q-smm .

A little longer stay for me but same thing. At best looks incompetent. A lot of people are paid a lot of money for such planning.
Don’t buy GM
GM has been losing top talents in autonomous driving because of their poor management and culture. They have losed the competition although the leaders in GM "assume" their leadership in this field. Let's move on and forget GM.
GM is in the Hall of Shame.
It is becoming more obvious by the day that GM led by Barra is going all in on the China and Mexico. The jobs they are purging are being filled by foreigners. I will never buy a GM car again and whats more I will do my best to convince people I know to do the same.
I got walked out from Pontiac. I have been with GM GPS for 2.5 years. I joined GM from another Big 3 which I have been working for 16 years. I gave up everything there and joined GM. Then GM used me and discarded me. My age and wage are the two big targets to be picked. Shame on GM.
I got a job offer from a big German company. Different industry. The nightmare is over.
To the beautiful people of Ohio , I understand exactly how you guys feel and the people of Michigan support your beautiful state , it's a damn shame this is happening and I find it as completely unnecessary , Ohio should be building the new Blazer and perhaps another truck , unfortunately for me I was contract with no uaw , severance package or even a chance to move to another facility , I am a skilled technician , single father in school at night with a mortgage, I was very close to being hired too. The heartbeat of America has flat lined! GM has sold the American people out to Mexico and China and our government made and gave false hope to people not only to Ohio but Michigan , zero accountability along with hollow threats to GM to keep work here in the USA . They filled the pockets of politicians in the 30s for infrastructure to build highways so they could sell more cars to the people , now it seems it's the reverse , they changed plans to take business out of the US because the market is in China. As long as politicians have skin in the game and get their greedy cut big business dictates the rules. Just like the 30s up to the 50s people need cars! , now people NEED atonomus and electric vehicles? B.S.- We need Mass public transit. Just ask GM and Firestone how that went in the 30s and 50s. I love driving because it's freedom and I am a car guy to the core , what is happening is unfortunately business as usual and alot of fine talented folks now have to suffer because of Greedy and mismanagement , I had a boss years ago retired from GM he said, Liers figure and figures lie , I have never forgotten those words.
I expect it will be more December 2019. You may have lucked out with all the severance packages given.. Next time I don't think it will go so smooth. Be thankful.. Here in Ohio it's been hard thinking about day to day never less the future. If we didn't have money the 1 thing we had was good health care.. Even the hospital in our community is laying off, Fast food, grocery stores local auto shops. The impact will trickle down not up. As a community we must stand together.
More to go this year and next... Michigan is finished until 2024
