we all got like over $20,000 before taxes, if you were there for over 2 years it was around that. And a salary employee at that, it helped me to move out of that god-forsaken, old religion, g-- hating, mormon zelots, backwards, racist, uneducated, expensive for what it was town they call Sidney. The hell hole of South West NE. Only second to Kimball where I found it super easy to get persecuted...and it seemed like a great place to get meth from those yokles.

I direct this response to the poster whose ideas to help those who are in need due to the dismantling of Cabela's and the local economy. Though your ideas have a lofty and noble sound to them, you constantly tarnish and degrade goals, by your constant combative and accusational tones and attitude.
No matter how noble your cause, seeking to have those return severance packages to fund your dream, is not practical nor even feasible. Given the self seeking, serving as well as entitlement attitude that is prevalent in today's society it just will not happen no matter how hard you try and hope
The constant accusations of being a Sidney and Cablea's hater and the tone of your post/comments directed at one singular individual is nonsense to say the least. This does not help your cause but hinders it. Many people post on this blog, and you are not reading the comments of just one individual but many.
Instead of constantly seeking validation on a forum that is anonymous by nature, may I suggest you follow through with your plans and ideas , by helping those in need with the few resources you have at your disposal.
Let not the right hand know what the left hands does, you will find that helping others without thought of recognition or reward will be it's own reward in itself.
Now I do know that this will be seen as an attack and insult by your perception, it is not. Take it as a bit of sage advice that it is.

I think you have had very little effect on what has happened in Sidney. I think most people do not take you seriously and see you as a ex fired Cabelas employee who hate Cabelas and hate Cabelas employees and post comments which are most damaging to them.
I might mention these were lies posted about these business going out of business also
I look out by door I see one neighbor who found out there child has cancer and see another neighbor who found out she has a serious disability disease after the merger. I know another person whose spouse had a organ transplant after the merger. I care about them and all of the other 162 employees laid off . The statement was met to discuss out of concern for their well being . To tell you the truth your self centered hate attitude may learn place in hell.

You and I do not agree on this issue . I think a discussion on severance pay is a subject which is appropriate on this site and you do not. You think subjects like rumors you hear about Safeway Applebee’s the Pizza Hut or basically any negative rumors which hurt people are subjects which are appropriate for the site and I do not.

This site is moderated and has rules. Rules are the same for every forum here.
Just look at their main site,there are thousands of active forums, most of which have dozens of new threads every day, unlike here where a new topic appears every couple of months.
In short, site admins don’t care if you like Sidney or not, they’ll nuke your post if it’s in violation with one of their rules.
You know, the usual, don’t troll and spam, don’t post names nor insult others... Try googling it, I’m sure someone from other forums here summarized all rules in one place.
it is sad and horrible that this has happened to our community once again. It seems as though we cannot catch a break.
I am wondering two things, I watch this site and noticed that quite a few comments were removed, why is that, and the concern for the employees "severance package" is a bit bewildering.
I have seen post after post from one individual claiming to have the employees and communities best interest, yet when questioned or called out as it were, claims and acusations of being a Sidney/Cabela's hater are made and the posts seem to magically disappear.
The claims that one person is responsible for the damage as a whole is if not so ludicrous would be laughable
I have one question, why is it any our business what these employees will be offered in any form of severance?
As to the past post that a fund needs to be created and funded by those individuals who have received large severance packages to help those "in need" , what good will that do, in the long run, big picture is Cabelas is gone thousand of jobs will never come back and no matter how much you try, you/we cannot change what has happened.
Also past comments claiming that employees were forbidden to speak about the situation so Cabela's so everyone involved would be treated fairly and justly as well as the community were preposterous, Look where we ended up.

Sorry to be clear the amount of cash severance paid to corporate employee was twenty or forty thousand . I have not heard of the guidelines for distribution center employees.

The first agreement offered to corporate employees was two months for each year of service and 40 thousand or 20 thousand depending on if you were over 50 years old and I believe 15 years of service. I have heard laid off quad workers got the same severance package even thru they weren't bass pro employees. Does anyone know the current guidelines for distribution center employees?

I understan in the merger agreement wasn’t the terms of the package suppose to be the same for everyone ? I have heard even the employees of Quad receive the same severance package. I would think the severance would be the same for everyone .
