I want to get laid off my tenure is so high it will be a nice check and my kind of job will be easy to get someplace else

Yes, you are being laid off. Plan accordingly. Maybe line up a few interviews or take the time to travel and see the world. But to answer your question, yes layoffs will happen whenever needed to keep share price acceptable to shareholders.
