Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Glassdoor.com review on GM

Since GM love to scare & torture us about layoff, please post sh--ty reviews on Glassdoor.com so the newcomer should be hesitating to come to GM. I wonder how and why GM got the work rating of 3.7 out of 5 as best place to work? and that stupid Barra got Top CEO award year 2017 on glassdoor.com ? Seriously why dragging about layoff since Oct.

I hate this company. Absolutely no work life balance!!! You are not even allowed to work from home. geez!

Any own under Randy Mott has been told thereyare to work from work, not from home. If your manager let's you do this, kudos. They obviously dont listen.

It would appear that Mother Russia has infiltrated this forum.

Seems like a butt hurt stupid employee. No wonder you are laid off. Here is an idea if you really want to hurt GM coz obviously your lil brain can’t come up with innovation:

  1. Ask all current and laid off employees to post their title and base salary plus bonus etc.

people still inside GM will be uncomfortable working with same spirit once they know the new kid is paid 1.4times more. ROFL

All in all, I love working for GM. It's great to work for a company with so much history, and especially to work for a company that actually -builds things-. I have some misgivings with management and the corporate bloat, but I truly enjoy most of my coworkers, and the general environment.

Announcing these layoffs at the time they did, though- while they're still posting massive profits, and then just letting people hang with the knowledge for SO FREAKING LONG-- it's really cruel and upsetting.

I'm sure there are many in the upper ranks who realize this. I just hope the company learns from it. The cost of morale here will linger for many years to come.

That is not true, I am seeing lots of negative reviews on GM on glassdoor.

I have a feeling glassdoor may be turning into yelp, ie: pay them to alter positive vs negative reviews

From Austin GM-IT center here as Software Developer. Most Managers here enforced most of them NOT to do Work from home.

Where do you work that you are unable to work from home?? It depends on your manager and your job. My past roles at GM has allowed me to work from home any time, but there are also some jobs that also didn't enable me to work from home either.
