“There many “at risk” students who need a extraordinary amount of assistance that faculty alone can’t provide.”

That has always been a part of the problem with Ai. There never were standards for new students, other than “can they pay the bill.”

There have been bright graduates and excellent portfolios, but that is a fraction of the students admitted to an Ai (being generous maybe 8-10%).

Tutors exist at every school, even Harvard.

Honey, this ain’t no Harvard.

Rev John Harvard is turning over in his grave hearing Ai and his namesake being mentioned in the same sentence.

I don’t know what planet you’re from. Clearly you don’t teach if you feel students, especially art institute students, don’t need tutors. There many “at risk” students who need a extraordinary amount of assistance that faculty alone can’t provide.

Tutors exist at every school, even Harvard.

Not sure where any faculty on this site have worked or what Ai AU they’re with now, but if you teach students, they don’t need a tutor.

At AiO we have seen way too many facilitators and not enough faculty. Faculty have worked for years spending extra time outside of the classroom tutoring students (campus based and online) who were left behind by overpaid facilitators.

Faculty want to see students succeed regardless of the school, what it’s going through or it’s reputation. Facilitators are just here for the paycheck, perks, and incredible benefits (I didn’t say facilitators were bright just lazy).

They are the same thing when you don’t pay the tutoring bill.

Faculty arent supposed to be tutors.

Tutors are tutors

There is this:

VitalSource has removed distribution rights for our boutique publishers temporarily due We are working with Vital Source to expedite a fix. Please make sure that your students are aware of this issue. You can utilize resources from the library to supplement classes and are encouraged to reach out to your librarian for help finding resources. Open Education Resources (OER) to supplement their courses until this issue is resolved. Faculty can also utilize Open Education Resources to supplement courses for the interim.
