Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Business Changes Needed

Union Pacific needs to change, I have worked there for 18 years. Promotions are all based on who your dad was, who your friends are, and how much you can drink on business trips.

It has been rife with poor decisions made by people who cannot run a lawn care business. It’s no surprise that the board finally said enough, the current leadership will be gone in a short time and those who add value, and are smart will have a place.

I have many friends who lost their jobs, all where nice people, some where the sons of past VP’s and where legacy hires. If I ask myself honestly; it s---s but I would not hire a single one of them.

My advice to anyone, the plane is already made there is nothing we can do to change it. Do you job, work safely for yourself and others, do what is asked even if it is different from what we have all done in the past.

PTC was supposed to not allow a collision to occur even if other factors were involved! That is supposed to be the fail safe system to not allow a rear end collision. Even if a blockage is in the train line and a FR no comm which happens all the time with trains.

Maybe changes are warranted to an extent. That is called evolving. The upper mggt does not care about their employees. The wreckage from the fatalities that occurred at Granite Wy in October is still sitting along the tracks. Why?? They pick up and place aircraft accidents and place it in warehouses to continue their investigations. Why leave this sitting there and let the reminders of the Carnage and failed PTC system hang over all the employees daily. Pretty sad. Numerous crews heard that conversation that day on the radio between the crew and HDC as it was occurring and the company allowed the crews to continue their trips to the AFHT that is 300 miles away. Where is the safety and courage to care in that!!! RIP B and J!!

Oh and should I remind ya that this wasn't any failure on the crews fault that day, so I am hearing. What is at fault is the pressure of taking tonnage with pushing the envelope of TPA and and fooling the employees that are not familiar with PTC and the public into thinking PTC is a safety measure to avoid rear end collisions. It is nothing more than the quest to reduce employees and move to 1 man crews and eventually unmanned trains. And the incidents and accidents will continue to rise with there unnecessary work events due to the PSR plan. Profits go up but at a cost of safety. The UP is a whole different animal from the lil railroad that Vena was from. Nobody has mentioned how the plan is working in Ogden and the melt down that is occurring but according to the #'s that are but out on the homepage, all is going great. What a joke!!!

You’re right … you are not your.

I guess that’s why I’ll be getting fired tomorrow.

There’s too many of us in Las Vegas anyways.

Plus I didn’t sleep with the right people like the other manager she has too many secrets so they can’t let her go
