Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowe’s hiring a couple of hundred seasonal workers in the Charlotte area

We are going to flooded with seasonal workers. I know that the season is around the corner, but hiring seasonal while laying off long time employees i a recipe for disaster. What’s gonna happen when the season is over and there are no reliable, already proven workers at the stores?

And it used to be LP's job, right in the store, to make sure all those inexperienced kids don't hurt themselves or other people. But due to Lowe's mass layoff my job ends Feb 1, and no one will be taking my place, as I take my skills to the largest retailer on earth.

Our store still hasn't heard from the guy who's supposed to do my job from 150 miles away.

Remember the "wee" team? All this PT employees did was walk around, talk about personal stuff, sip coffee, goof around, then if and when a customer needed help, they were unable to provide it and just walk the customer over to an experienced FT'er who already had a line of customers needing help and then turned away and went back to his coffee sipping.

Oh? Youre gonna argue? Go ahead. But everyone knows even FT'ers are not trained at Lowe's. We are all fed to the wolves. Sink or swim. So if you think PT, seasonal employees get any training, go ahead and argue they provide customer service. Your argument is baseless.

Seasonal hires are just bodies to put out fires. Load mulch, sweep, stock, and carry and haul. Water plants. That is all. There is zero conceptual thinking there, much like 90% of all managers. They are all animals, acting perceptually on any given moment. Long term, Lowe's is screwed.

MARVIN! We DO NOT need more managers. Lowe's needs competent employees who provide better customer service than Home Depot. Period, end of story.

We were told our store will be hiring 26 seasonal associates.

10 cashiers

4 waters

3 loaders

3 additional garden center associates (doubling the size of the dept since we have 3 part-timers there now)

6 associates for “key departments.” Probably 1 in paint and rest in building materials since I have one full timer and a pat timer there now.

Lowes = a ship lost at seas, in a storm, with no captain. End story.

Here’s the new deal all around. If the work a part timer is doing expands to need a full timer, hire another part timer instead. We all see it in all these hires. They’ll say so we can be flexible season over season, we know it’s because they’re greedy.
