I hate to break it to you but Walmart, nor any other company, is in business to employ people. The business of business is to make money for its shareholders. Period. Jobs are a means to that end. A company will do its best to treat its staff as best as they can because its through the efforts of the staff that a company makes money but competitive pressure is always forcing business to adapt and change. Sometimes that means changes in staffing. Were you upset when WM switched from cashiers having to type in product prices rather than being able to simply scan barcodes? It led to job losses so you should have been. Saying that greed drives staffing is mind numbingly ignorant. Whose greed? The Waltons? Doug? The C-level execs? If Walmart doesn’t remain competitive then no one will have a job here. Would you prefer that?
What’s stated in this post by @XijdUTi-xad is something most of us don’t want to here, but it’s definitely true. This is our reality and in these circumstances, it wouldn't be possible to have it any different.
