Qcom gave Apple a lower rate in exchange for exclusiveness, and Apple took that over dual sourcing, increasing competition, fairness, free market whatever, etc. No one forced Apple to take the deal. Apple just got a better deal, and Intel didn't want to compete. Intel could have competed if they felt the modem was important to them.

May the foot of Apple's trillion dollar wealth stomp Qualcomm into particle dust.

And don't kid yourself - they will. Qualcomm does NOT have the deep pockets to take on Apple let alone Apple and Intel. Qualcomm has the ego, but not the money. They're history and may they rest in misery.

I'm sure everyone has heard that the EU Court put their foot up Qualcomm's a-- today which is a substantial victory (one of many to come) for Apple. :)

Apple aside, it's the FTC and judge Koh Qualcomm is facing in court, not Apple, some just can't understand that.

Apple would never have brought complaints, to the FTC or other governments, if qualcomm did nothing legally wrong. At least it would have gone nowhere had laws not been broken.

That said, the apple deal and more illegal conduct took place under Mollencoughs dismal leadership. Now mollencough wants to be rewarded for the giant, costly mess he led. And worse, he is cutting innocent, hard working, heads to make a case for his own personal mistakes and personal wealth.

Qualcomm has smacked around customers for years. When a bigger bully thumps another bully, no one but the smaller bully cries.

The funniest part of it is that Qualcomm beat Mav to the smartphone market, then chose to divest phone.

Apple gained rebates in EXCHANGE FOR EXCLUSIVELY USING QCOM.

'Exclusive' = 'shutting Intel out.........'. Intel testimony was clear, they were all lined up to enter the market several years earlier on a low-risk iPad mini. BUT, the EXCLUSIVE clause was thrust into place and INTEL were shut out.

Intel knew they could have won the iPad socket EXCEPT that Apple demand Intel reimbused the full EXCLUSIVITY REBATE.

@@XmKpytV- what a crock of c-ap!!!!! Apple has been behing every single action against Qualcomm over the last 6 years. Apple is the customer that demanded a rebate got it and then says it provided Qualcomm a competitive advantage. No leg to stand on except in San Jose and whatever decision Koh makes in Apples favor she will be overturned.

Only Apple was big enough, resourceful enough and sharp enough to take on the biggest bully in tech for 20+ years.

And the Apple case wont come to trial for several months yet.

The FTC however is on the winning track ahead of Apple.

So perhaps Apple is wise enough to let the government enforce laws ahead of smacking down the bully for a second time.
